Elite Longshot

This is my recently completed Elite Longshot.  Built from a blue 1st Generation Longshot with light modifications, this blaster easily hits 75 feet with stock streamlines.  As N-Strike's largest direct plunger system blaster, it only seemed right to finish this up amidst all the Retaliator and Rampage news that's been floating around.  This Elite Longshot should remind these new blasters what a real direct plunger blaster is capable of!

The Elite Longshot has already been range tested and worked on internally.  Originally, I was waiting for the Orange Mod Works Immortal Longshot kit to put in there, but after seeing my simple mods perform so well and the constant delays in OMW's production of this kit, I decided this was more than good enough to go toe-to-toe with the new N-Strike Elite blasters poised to debut this summer.

    1. I agree. I was looking at and thought "Something doesn't seem right" and then I realized it was the yellow. :)

  3. Sorry if you mentioned it in a previous post or video, but what 'basic mods' did you do to reach 75' flat with streamlines? I was contemplating doing a SG Nerf style brass streamline breech but was wondering how you got such nice results. Thanks in advance!

    1. Modifications have included the following
      * Spring replaced with one from a Big Bad Bow
      * Air Restrictor Removed
      * Dead Space filled
      * Plunger padded
      * Double O-Ring
      * Regreased (Silicone lubricant)
      * Unnecessary Locks Removed

      That's it. Nothing super fancy.

    2. Did you just use an o-ring from another LS, or did you find a different one that works? I've been looking everywhere for an extra LS o-ring at hardware stores. Any suggestions?

  4. Cool,really nice job! Do you think anyone will buy a recon,raider,barricade after elite is released? I mean then you could just get the upgraded version.

    Anyway I think this is one of the best mods I have seen so far,even if it isnt super fancy,because its new.That's the whole reason I read this blog your so fresh and out there,which is more than can be said for other blogs.

    1. Krylon Fusion. As far as I know,it's just about the only stuff that works on plastic.

  7. Hey bazook, are you okay with me making your gun into a background? not the one of the pic, but one that would fit as a desktop background

    1. Feel free to copy/use mine as inspiration for your own. I simply used Krylon White and whatever dark metallic color you can find for the other details. I actually used a paint marker for the logos, but a sharpie will work just fine too.

      Honestly, mine is doing just fine without the OMW Immortal kit and, to be honest, it could be quite awhile before the kit is actually released. My experience with long waits for OMW kits hasn't been rewarded very kindly either (my Longstrike Massacre kit broke after a couple uses) so I'd just do the basic mods to it. It'll still work just great.

    4. but, whatever you do use krylon FOR PLASTIC. it will ruin your gun if you don't. and sand the moving peices so that when you paint it everything doesn't get sticky.

  11. First of all, KUDOS, to reviving the LongShot and making an 'Elite' one at that. I'm currently Modding two LS' (G1 Blue LS and a Yellow LS), however, I am running into a few hiccups modding mine. I was hoping for your advice.

    I can't seem to find a cheap BBB for its springs, so I think I'm going the route of getting the OMW 5KG springs.

    Do you have any suggestions for the following items:

    O Rings: size? I Currently I have the stock O Ring on.

    Plunger Padding: What did you use? I used some thin foam padding not sure it's enough...

    Dead Space: what materials did you use? I rolled up a piece of porous foam, but left an opening for air to pass.

    With the current mods I've done before getting the springs, I still hear a loud cracking sound and hear a lot of vibration in the LS. Any suggestions for those issues?

    I'm currently using the Yellow LS as my beater one before I start modding my G1 Blue LS. I don't want to mess anything up on that one! LoL. I accidently shaved too much on the priming handle end and need to find another means to prime my Yellow LS. =/

    Thanks in advance for your help! Happy New Year!

  12. Hey Mike, I see that you mentioned padding your plunger. Do you have any trouble chambering darts? When I pad my LS plungers, the padding prevents the breech from moving all the way back and I have to chop just a little out of the breech tube lip so that darts can rise into position.

    What do you use for padding, for that matter? Thanks, Andu.
